What this is
Frontier AI Orientation is a maintained route through a moving argument. It is not an encyclopedia, a credential, or a claim that every serious person agrees. Its job is to help a curious reader understand how frontier systems work, where capabilities appear to be, what remains contested, and which primary sources are worth opening next.
How sources are selected
A source belongs when it establishes a mechanism, measurement, policy, event, or historical fact; states an influential position in the words of the people advancing it; supplies a strong objection; turns an abstract argument into a concrete consequence; or explains difficult material unusually well without erasing uncertainty. Reputation alone is not enough, and a summary never replaces the linked source.
Primary sources and opposing views
Primary sources are preferred for claims about capabilities, measurements, incidents, laws, standards, commitments, and a person’s stated view. Secondary sources remain useful for synthesis, explanation, reporting, history, and criticism. Primary describes proximity to a claim, not immunity from error.
Contested claims should be represented by their strongest legible versions. Balance does not mean equal source counts or false equivalence. It means a reader can find the strongest live objection and understand why informed people still disagree.
Maintenance and quotations
Links and obvious changes are checked monthly; source selection, ordering, opposing-view coverage, and skim guidance receive a quarterly editorial review; material factual errors, quotation problems, retractions, and major source revisions trigger an immediate review. Quotations require a named speaker, a canonical source, and enough context to verify both wording and meaning.
Corrections
If a claim is wrong, a quotation is inaccurate or out of context, a source is misidentified, a link is misleading, or an important opposing view is missing, send the exact page or source URL, the problem, and the best available evidence through the site contact route. Clear factual errors are corrected promptly. Material changes retain a short account of what changed and why. Good-faith disagreement is welcome, although disagreement alone is not automatically a correction.
Reading and provenance
Skimming is supported. Progress marks exposure, not mastery. There are no quizzes, required submissions, or mandatory exercises. WordPress source posts are the live editorial source of truth; bundled JSON is installation seed data. Imported text and transcripts are reviewable retrieval derivatives tied to canonical sources, not new evidence.
